- Do not move the neck: In road accidents or falls, assume cervical spine trauma. Keep the head and neck strictly in line.

- Splint the broken limb: Support the injured limb with a firm object (board/rolled cloth) above and below the fracture.
- Do not give oral fluids: If the patient requires emergency anesthesia or surgery, giving water or food can cause pulmonary aspiration.
